Department of Agricultural Economics

Welcome to Department of Agricultural Economics

The Department of Agricultural Economics was established in 1981 in the Faculty of Agriculture at Batticoloa University College, later to be renamed as Eastern University, Sri Lanka in 1986. It is offering courses for internal and external students and Diploma in Sustainable Farming program; as well as involving in several research activities in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. The staff members of Department of Agricultural Economics are also serving as consultants to many international and local NGOs and government agencies.

The aims of Department of Agricultural Economics are to provide undergraduates with a wider foundation of knowledge and relevant techniques in the field of Agricultural Economics. It is also assisting the Faculty in the conduct of postgraduate programs in Agriculture.
