Message from the Coordinator

The Faculty Quality Assurance Cell (FQAC) of the Faculty of Agriculture, Eastern University, Sri Lanka, was established in alignment with the directives of the Centre Quality Assurance Unit (CQA) of EUSL. The primary objective of the FQAC is to ensure and enhance the quality of education within the faculty by formalizing and streamlining quality assurance processes at both the faculty and university levels. The FQAC liaises with the CQA Director to coordinate quality assurance initiatives in the faculty, ensuring that the faculty’s academic and administrative activities meet the expected standards. Representing all stakeholders, including academic staff, undergraduate and postgraduate students, administrative staff, and non-academic staff.

Acting as an advisory body, the FQAC makes recommendations to the Faculty Board and Examination Division on matters related to quality enhancement. The cell is also responsible for regularly monitoring quality assurance activities within the faculty and promoting best practices to improve teaching, learning, and overall programme quality. Through its dedicated efforts, the FQAC of the Faculty of Agriculture provides a culture of quality that aligns with the faculty’s mission to deliver exceptional agricultural education and contribute meaningfully to the university’s overall quality  assurance framework.

Vision and Mission

Vision

To provide high-quality education and training in the field of agriculture, aligned with international standards, to empower undergraduates of the Faculty of Agriculture.

Mission

To achieve academic excellence in agricultural sciences by continuously enhancing the quality of degree programs through effective quality assurance mechanisms, fostering advancements in education, research, and community engagement.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Faculty Quality Assurance Cell (FQAC), Faculty of Agriculture, EUSL

The FQAC of Faculty of Agriculture is responsible for developing guidelines for quality assurance activities within the faculty and overseeing their implementation, focusing on the following aspects.

  1. The FQAC shall liaise regularly and closely with the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, the Director/CQA to ensure the effective implementation of quality assurance practices.
  2. The FQAC shall assist in administering student surveys and feedback, organizing stakeholder meeting proceedings, and conducting other relevant surveys to enhance the quality of education and services.
  3. The FQAC shall coordinate and guide all quality assurance (QA) related activities within the Faculty and report monthly to the Faculty Board.
  4. The FQAC shall facilitate the identification and sharing of good practices among academic departments within the Faculty to promote continuous improvement.
  5. The FQAC shall coordinate and conduct faculty-level awareness programs on QA for staff members, with the support of the CQA.
  6. The FQAC shall assist the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture and the Director/CQA in incorporating QA aspects into the Faculty Corporate Plan.
  7. The FQAC shall prepare QA-related guidelines and manuals tailored for the Faculty of Agriculture.
  8. The FQAC shall assist the Dean. Faculty of Agriculture and the Director/CQA in implementing QA reviews, audits, and follow-up actions to address any identified gaps.
  9. The FQAC shall coordinate the preparation of the Faculty's Self-Evaluation Report and Programme Review Reports in alignment with institutional QA frameworks.
  10. The FQAC shall coordinate the preparation of the Annual Action Plan for the Faculty.
  11. The FQAC shall ensure that necessary academic regulations and by-laws are in place within the Faculty and recommend remedial actions where gaps are identified.
  12. The FQAC shall maintain a repository of evidence at the Faculty level to support Institutional Reviews and Programme Reviews effectively.
